The Sunset Guarantee: if we go away, the disc still plays
A disc is a copy you hold, not a licence that can be switched off.
Play never needs an account. If We The Indies ever closes, the disc in the case still works. Updates stop. The copies on your machine stay yours.
The promise is a last update and a last download where a release has them, and then a public signing mark and the small program that uses it, so anyone can check a numbered copy without us. That mark is not published yet, and the page says so rather than pretending it already landed.
About We The Indies
We The Indies is a one-person disc shop in St. Augustine, Florida. Indie developers, filmmakers and musicians send finished work; the workshop makes a real disc for it by hand, one copy at a time, and ships it to someone who owns it forever. No DRM, no server to shut off, no licence to revoke. The disc maker, Rialto 1.5, is open source and free.
