Films on Blu-ray or DVD, made by hand like the games
The workshop that makes game discs now makes films the same way: one copy at a time, when someone orders one, with the menu and the chapters a film disc should have.
The shop takes films. A filmmaker sends the finished feature file and the art, free to start, and a disc is made by hand when someone buys one. Blu-ray is recommended, and a film finished in standard definition may ship on DVD instead.
A film disc gets what a film disc should have: a designed menu, chapters, the audio and subtitle tracks the filmmaker names, and extras. The soundtrack can ride along on its own CD as a deluxe edition.
About We The Indies
We The Indies is a one-person disc shop in St. Augustine, Florida. Indie developers, filmmakers and musicians send finished work; the workshop makes a real disc for it by hand, one copy at a time, and ships it to someone who owns it forever. No DRM, no server to shut off, no licence to revoke. The disc maker, Rialto 1.5, is open source and free.
