We The Indies

Game preservation

A physical game you can keep.

For a PC game authored with Rialto 1.5 and sold here, preservation means the disc stands on its own and the copy we made has a lasting public record. Some can also come with a DRM-free digital copy.

What preservation means here

01

The physical copy comes first

The game installs from its disc and plays without a sign-in, a subscription or an online check. The disc does not depend on this website to keep working.

02

A DRM-free digital copy

Some releases can also come with a DRM-free download from your account, for a computer without a disc drive.

03

A public record of the copy

A copy made here can carry its own number and the date it was made. The lookup below confirms the copy, not the identity of the person who owns it.

Digital ownership follows the publishing path

A game can have one only when it is a supported PC game authored with Rialto 1.5 and sold through We the Indies; a film or an album can have one too. Bring Your Own ISO releases and finished PC or console products do not receive a digital copy, game updates or Cloud Saving from us.

Numbered-copy lookup

Look up a copy we made

Find the bottom line on the back of the case. Choose the title and enter the copy number to see which copy it is and when it was made.

No numbered copies yet. The first disc we make from an order goes on the ledger, and its title appears here.

Digits only. Copy 14 is 14.

Every numbered copy is written on the ledger after it is made: its copy number for the title, its number among the discs we have made and, when it is signed, its signed-item number.

The lookup is a record, not a lock. It does not name the owner, grant rights or gate play. The disc works the same with or without this page.
